  Baha'i and Ethiopian dates do not map one-to-one — the two systems start from different epochs and count leap years differently, so enter the full Baha'i date and read the Ethiopian equivalent instead of shifting the year by a fixed offset.

• Reversing the direction is a silent trap: converting from the Ethiopian calendar back to the Baha'i calendar needs the inverse relation, and off-by-one errors cluster at month boundaries where the systems disagree. Verify the round trip returns your original date.

• Epoch offsets are pair-specific: day zero of Baha'i and of Ethiopian are different dates, and constants borrowed from another calendar pair are silently wrong by days or years. Use the Baha'i → Ethiopian relation itself, not a remembered number.
