Our Methodology

How the calculators on this site are built, tested, and kept accurate — explained plainly.

Where our formulas come from

Every calculator is built on standard, publicly documented formulas — not proprietary black boxes. Our financial tools (loan and mortgage amortization, compound interest, savings growth) use the standard time-value-of-money equations found in mainstream finance references. Physics calculators apply classical Newtonian mechanics and the standard equations of motion. Automotive tools combine manufacturer specification data with industry-standard estimation models.

In other words, the math behind each tool is the same math an accountant, engineer, or technician would use by hand — we simply make it fast and error-free.

How we verify every calculator

Before a calculator is published, it is tested against hand-computed reference cases: we solve the problem manually, step by step, and confirm the tool reproduces exactly the same result. Boundary inputs — zeros, extremes, unusual combinations — are checked deliberately, so the tool handles them safely instead of failing silently.

Where live data comes from

Some tools rely on external feeds, and we choose sources that are authoritative and independently checkable:

  • Currency rates come from the European Central Bank reference feed, complemented by a live market feed.
  • VAT number checks connect directly to the official EU VIES system.
  • Email verification performs live DNS MX lookups, not guesses from a static list.
  • IP geolocation uses public geo databases.

The limits of our results

All results are informational estimates — not financial, legal, or professional advice. Real-world figures can vary by country, institution, and personal circumstances: a bank’s effective rate, local tax rules, or regional conventions can all shift a result. Use the calculators to understand the math, and confirm important decisions with a qualified professional.

Continuous review

Calculators are re-checked on every release: formulas, reference cases, and data feeds are re-validated before changes go live. If you ever spot an error, tell us — every report is investigated.
