How the basket calculator works

Total = (Σ unit price × qty + Σ shipping) + customs duty + VAT

We sum the goods value and shipping across the whole basket, then apply the estimated duty and VAT rates for the destination country. Because customs thresholds apply per consignment (per parcel), we compute two scenarios — everything in one parcel, or each item in its own parcel — and the difference near a threshold can be significant.

FAQs

Am I taxed on the whole order or per item?

Customs assesses each consignment (parcel) separately. If your items arrive in one parcel the values are combined; if they arrive separately, each parcel is tested against the exemption thresholds on its own — which is why we show both scenarios.

Do you advise splitting the order to avoid duty?

No. We show the arithmetic for estimation only; structuring orders or under-declaring values to evade customs is illegal in most countries. Check your customs authority before deciding.

Why does the total differ between “one parcel” and “separate parcels”?

Because exemption limits (like Israel’s $75 or Saudi Arabia’s SAR 1,000) are tested per parcel. A basket above the limit may be taxed if it arrives together but have every parcel under the limit if shipped separately — and vice versa.

How accurate are the rates used?

They are broad estimates captured 2026-10 and vary by exact HS tariff line and carrier fees. Override the rates manually if you know the right ones, and always verify with your customs authority.
