How does the fair-price checker work?

Percentile = share of same-category comparable offers priced ≥ your product’s price (after excluding other categories and median/MAD outliers)

We fetch the product’s details from your link (price, title, category), then build one AliExpress search from the title’s distinctive keywords, targeted at your country and currency. We drop offers from other categories, trim outlier values (accessories priced unrelated to the product, and price errors) with a robust median/MAD filter, and finally compute where your product’s price sits in the resulting distribution: cheaper than 80% of similar offers is “great”, 60–80% “good”, 35–60% “average”, below that “high”. None of this needs any price history — the distribution exists from day one.

How is this different from the price-history checker?

The price-history checker needs a stored history for the product — brand-new listings have none anywhere. This tool answers the opposite question: “is this price cheap compared with similar products in the same category?” It works from day one because it compares against the distribution of current offers, not the past.

What products am I compared with?

With the live results of a search using the title’s distinctive keywords, restricted to the same category, after statistically trimming outliers. They are similar products, not the same product — higher- and lower-quality versions may be included, which is why we show how many offers the verdict rests on.

When does the tool say “not enough data”?

When fewer than 8 comparable offers remain after the exclusions. We refuse to judge from a smaller sample because the distribution would be unreliable — that’s a deliberate honesty limit, not a bug.

Does it work in any currency?

Yes — prices are fetched in the currency of the shipping country you pick, and the whole comparison stays inside that one currency, so no conversion is involved.
