AliExpress Customs Threshold Planner — Two Orders Instead of One

Quick answer

Basket over the customs de-minimis limit (e.g.

  • SAR 1,150 vs Saudi’s SAR 1,000)?
  • See exactly which items to move to a second, genuine order so each parcel

Figures are estimates from this calculator’s standard formula — adjust the inputs in the tool below for your exact number.

How the customs threshold planner works

Per-shipment test: goods + shipping ≤ limit ⇒ duty-free; VAT follows your country’s rule

The tool computes duty and VAT on your basket as one consignment, then tries every possible two-order split (each order with its own shipping, honestly declared at real prices) and keeps the cheapest total — and tells you plainly when splitting saves nothing.

  1. 1

    Enter your basket

One line per product with unit price and quantity, plus destination country and category for the duty band.

  2. 2

    Enter shipping

Shipping cost per shipment — the second order ships and pays on its own (free? enter 0).

  3. 3

    Read the plan

What stays in order 1 and what moves to order 2, each shipment’s tax and the estimated saving — or an honest “splitting doesn’t help”.

FAQs

Does staying under the threshold mean I pay no tax at all?

Not always. In Saudi Arabia a shipment under SAR 1,000 skips customs duty but 15% VAT generally still applies; in the UAE the duty exemption doesn’t cover the 5% VAT. The tool shows duty and VAT for each shipment separately so nothing surprises you.

Why do I enter shipping for the second order?

Because the second order is genuinely its own shipment: it ships and pays shipping on its own. Entering shipping per shipment (0 if free) keeps the comparison honest — many thresholds, like Saudi Arabia’s, are measured on goods plus shipping.

My basket is one product with a large quantity — what now?

Splitting here is at item level, not quantity level. Re-enter the same product as two lines with smaller quantities (e.g. 4 cases = two lines of 2), and the tool treats each line as an honest separate order — or simply order fewer units.

Do you suggest lowering the declared value or marking the parcel as a gift?

No — never. Falsely declaring a shipment’s value or nature is customs fraud that can lead to seizure and fines, and this tool has nothing to do with it. All it does is arrange real orders so you benefit from the per-shipment threshold exactly as the regulator designed it.
